What were the stars going to wear this year? Here are my thoughts on the best- and worst-dressed females of 2019’s Oscar Night.
Hollywood’s biggest night – it’s the Academy Awards, otherwise known as Oscar Night. It was a night of your typical glitz and glamour, and I too, followed it minute by minute. What were the stars going to wear this year? Here are my thoughts on the best and worst dressed females of last night.
Best Dressed
Regina King looked so cool and classy in a smooth, white Oscar de la Renta gown that offered a slit right up her leg that left us wanting more as she waltzed on stage to accept the award for Best Supporting Actress.
Jennifer Lopez – Partial to the long-sleeved, covered neck look, this beauty sparkled in Tom Ford.
Lady Gaga – Now widely known to have taken the red carpet by storm when she donned the dazzling 128-carat Tiffany yellow diamond necklace last worn by Audrey Hepburn in 1961, Gaga made heads spin on Oscar night when she paired that bling with a gorgeous Alexander McQueen gown and matching leather opera gloves. Bravo! (It didn’t hurt that her chemistry with Bradley Cooper singing “Far From the Shallow Now” made them appear totally in love. Just sayin’.)
Allison Janney looked classy and sleek in the fine lines of Pamella Roland and Chopard jewelry.
Jennifer Hudson’s fiery red Elie Saab Couture dress reminded me of the sexy salsa dancer emoji.
Helen Mirren looked beautiful in a long-sleeved layered number with accordion pleats.
Melissa McCarthy looked pretty in her white silk dress and Forevermark diamonds before she changed her garb to spoof “The Favourite” while presenting the award for best costume design and giving us all a laugh.
Worst Dressed
Tessa Thompson’s Chanel dress looked like she hadn’t yet put her Christmas decorations away but taped them to her body.
Rachel Weisz – I’m all down for latex, but wasn’t sure if that was supposed to be flowers happening from the waist down or wrinkles in the fabric, in either case, you’ve lost all sex appeal.
Sarah Paulson’s dress I didn’t get either. A long, billowing skirt with a poufy top together made her look more like a marshmallow than a movie star.
Gemma Chan’s Pepto Bismol-pink Valentino dress was certainly a daring and ambitious choice. She looked prepared to parachute down the runway and save her fellow fashion fugitives.
Kacey Musgraves – all I could see was pink loofah.

Oscar Night Honorable Mentions
“Wayne’s World” was the funniest part of Oscar night, when Mike Myers and Dana Carvey hooted the unforgettable, “We’re not worthy!” before introducing “Bohemian Rhapsody.”
And to Hollywood royal Julia Roberts, who looked stunning as ever in a bright pink flowy but fitted dress by Elie Saab. She was the picture perfect pretty woman. It was no surprise she closed out the Oscar night ceremony.
Oh, I already mentioned Gaga and Cooper’s on-stage magical moment? Life imitating art?
