2025 Globy Awards: Celebrating Philadelphia’s Global Leadership
On Monday, December 8, 2025, the 2025 Globy Awards return for their 11th year, shining a spotlight on a select group of Philadelphia-based leaders whose work continues to elevate the city’s global reputation. Hosted by the Global Philadelphia Association at the Ballroom at the Ben, this prestigious event will bring together visionaries and changemakers from across the region. Emceed by Michael Newmuis, Philadelphia’s 2026 Director, the evening promises a celebration of civic excellence, international influence, and the bold leadership shaping the future of our World Heritage City.
The Global Philadelphia Association, the nonprofit organization behind the Globy Awards, is devoted to positioning Philadelphia as a globally connected, culturally rich, and socially responsible city. This year’s Globy Awards honor six exceptional Philadelphians whose leadership has made a lasting international impact across education, business, culture, preservation, sustainability, and community building.
In the spirit of giving back, this year’s charitable partner is the historic Mother Bethel AME Church, a National Historic Landmark and deeply rooted community institution. Guests are invited to bring small non-monetary donations to support Mother Bethel’s outreach work, reinforcing the Globy Awards’ commitment to connection and service.
Meet the 2025 Globy Awards Honorees
The 2025 Globy Awards will recognize six leaders whose diverse work reflects Philadelphia’s global values and aspirations. Dr. Ashley Jordan, President and CEO of the African American Museum in Philadelphia, will be honored with the Heritage and Preservation Leadership Award. Since joining the museum in 2021, Dr. Jordan has elevated the institution’s profile through her deep expertise in public history.
Her prior roles at the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center and the National Afro-American Museum showcased her curatorial excellence and dedication to storytelling rooted in truth and legacy. With a doctorate in U.S. History and an M.A. in Public History from Howard University, alongside a B.A. in History from Kent State University, she brings a scholarly depth that has earned her honors from the Association of African American Museums and the NAACP.
The Educational Leadership Award goes to Farah Jimenez, President and CEO of the Philadelphia Education Fund. Since 2016, she has led the organization’s mission to expand college access, boost STEM education, and promote career readiness for public-school students across the city. Her extensive civic and nonprofit leadership includes a gubernatorial appointment to Philadelphia’s School Reform Commission, as well as roles on the Eastern District Judicial Selection Committee and the Pennsylvania Commission on Women.
A University of Pennsylvania graduate with both a B.A. and J.D., Jimenez also holds an honorary doctorate from Chestnut Hill College and nonprofit management credentials from Harvard Business School.
Gregory E. Deavens, former President and CEO of Independence Health Group, will be presented with the Corporate Leadership Award. Deavens led the parent company of Independence Blue Cross from 2021 through 2025, steering the organization through pivotal healthcare shifts. With a background as a certified public accountant and prior roles including Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, and Treasurer, he’s a recognized voice in corporate governance and health policy.
Deavens has served on influential boards, including the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia, Alegeus Technologies, AmeriHealth Caritas, and the Barnes Foundation. His financial and civic acumen have been recognized by Modern Healthcare and other top-tier institutions.
The Community Leadership Award goes to the indomitable Jane Golden, Founder and Executive Director of Mural Arts Philadelphia. For decades, Golden has driven Philadelphia’s transformation through public art, overseeing the creation of more than 4,000 murals that tell the stories of neighborhoods, communities, and individuals. Her innovative programming addresses education, justice, behavioral health, and environmental equity, while the 2017 launch of the Mural Arts Institute has shared these practices globally.
Golden’s accolades include the Eisenhower Exchange Fellowship, Philadelphia Magazine’s Trailblazer Award, and the Philadelphia Award, and she currently serves as a Cabinet Member for Mayor Cherelle Parker’s Clean and Green initiative.
The Sustainable Development Leadership Award will be awarded to Lindsey Scannapieco, Managing Partner and Founder of Scout. Known for creative urban redevelopment, Scannapieco turned the historic Bok building into a thriving hub for over 200 tenants and 250,000 annual visitors. Now, she’s spearheading the Village of Industry & Art project, a reimagination of the former University of the Arts campus into a next-generation cultural destination.
With degrees in Real Estate Finance from USC and City Design from the London School of Economics, Scannapieco brings a global perspective to every community-rooted project. She also serves as Co-President of Friends of FDR Park and has received honors, including the Girls Inc. Community Impact Award and Philadelphia Business Journal’s 40 Under 40.
Rounding out this year’s honorees is Reverend Peter M. Donohue, OSA, PhD, President of Villanova University, who will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award. Father Donohue has led Villanova since 2006, overseeing sweeping strategic plans, increased national recognition, and a renaissance of the physical campus and student experience.
A Villanova alumnus and Augustinian priest, he holds degrees in theatre, theology, and divinity, including a PhD in Theatre from the University of Illinois. Before becoming president, he chaired Villanova’s Department of Theatre, directing award-winning productions that received multiple Barrymore nominations.
