Silent Day at Calder Gardens

Silent Days at Calder Gardens is a monthly program — taking place on the fourth Wednesday of every month — that invites visitors to slow down, turn inward, and experience quiet attention. The May 27 session runs from 3:00 to 7:00 PM, offering full access to the galleries and gardens for four reduced-capacity hours dedicated to silence and sensory awareness.
Visitors remain in silence throughout their time in the space and are asked to refrain from using electronic devices, including cell phones, tablets, computers, and headphones. Visitors are encouraged to meditate, bring printed reading materials, and use small paper pads and pencils for drawing or writing. Pens, markers, and all forms of paint are not permitted.
Designated areas for reading, drawing, writing, and meditation are available throughout the galleries and gardens, with chairs, tables, and meditation cushions provided. Visitors are welcome to bring their own meditation pillows.
The reduced-sensory environment supports visitors with autism, social, emotional, or mental health needs, dementia, and other sensory sensitivities, while offering a more grounded and spacious experience for anyone seeking respite from the pace of daily life.
Tickets: $22 general admission, $10 members. For accessibility accommodations, contact info@caldergardens.org or 215.278.7250.
