Yearning – Double Tiger
Double Tiger, AKA Jay Spaker, has dropped his new single titled “Yearning,” marking a powerful return since Double Tiger’s critically acclaimed album “The Journey” in 2020. This track boldly features unreleased riddims from reggae icons Sly & Robbie, recorded in Kingston and meticulously mixed in Boston. It also includes striking horn arrangements by Lee Hamilton and an impressive dub version mixed by Craig Welsch (Dub Fader) of 10 Ft. Ganja Plant.
Double Tiger recognized the challenge of collaborating with Sly & Robbie but quickly harnessed his energy during the recording sessions. He composed the lyrics and melody in a single take, viewing it as a significant honor to create alongside his musical heroes, while delivering a heartfelt tribute to the legendary Robbie Shakespeare.
Ghost on the Radio – Elijah Woods
“Ghost On The Radio” is an upbeat pop song that carries profound emotional depth. It narrates a bittersweet tale of enduring feelings and memories. Elijah Woods explained, “The song captures the essence of a past relationship that relentlessly haunts you. Wherever you are, their voice lingers like an unforgettable song that you simply can’t switch off.”
Whatever (Redux) – Our Lady Peace
To celebrate their 30th anniversary, Canadian band Our Lady Peace is reissuing special EP collections, including a re-recording of “Whatever” with producer Nick Raskulinecz. Originally released in 2003 for WWE wrestler Chris Benoit, the song has been a fan favorite but was last performed 18 years ago due to the events surrounding Benoit in 2007. The band is now reclaiming the song’s themes of isolation and mental health, donating proceeds to mental health and suicide prevention initiatives. Frontman Raine Maida emphasized the importance of raising awareness 23 years after the tragic events.
Bodies Hit the Floor – Sofi Tukker
Sofi Tukker has teamed up with metal powerhouse Drowning Pool to deliver a bold reimagining of their classic anthem “Bodies Hit the Floor,” released via Craft Recordings. Tucker Halpern and Sophie Hawley-Weld’s version of “Bodies Hit the Floor” has emerged as a highlight in their live performances. Sofi Tukker labels this collaboration as one of their most exciting and unexpected partnerships, sparked from a playful concept for their DJ sets.
They emphasize the song’s powerful capacity to ignite energy at both massive festivals and intimate house parties, expressing their heartfelt thanks to Drowning Pool for granting permission to reinvent this iconic track CJ Pierce of Drowning Pool has lauded SOFI TUKKER’s fresh take, praising the dynamic build-ups and breakdowns, and eagerly anticipates the opportunity to witness the performance live.
Daughter of Demeter (ON THE DANCEFLOOR) – Laura Pieri
The original “Daughter of Demeter” was a raw expression of rage and heartbreak, but this new version asserts a calm confidence. Pieri describes it as a remix where the fire evolves into something slower and sharper. While the fury still simmers beneath the surface, this rendition transforms pain into pleasure, boldly embracing heartbreak with style—it’s a definitive “rage on vacation.” In this remix, Pieri amplifies her emotional songwriting, fusing powerful lyrics into a smooth, sultry sound. She confidently addresses how we process and express our emotions, particularly feminine ones. Healing often demands movement, and she recognizes that grief can manifest as a gentle sway.
