Fête de la Musique Returns with Sound, Sips, and Sophistication

On Saturday, June 21st, from 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM, Sofitel Philadelphia at Rittenhouse Square will once again transform its Liberté Lounge into a celebration of summer, sound, and French sophistication with the return of its annual Fête de la Musique. Also known as World Music Day, this global phenomenon was born in France in 1982 to welcome the summer solstice with live performances, dancing in the streets, and spontaneous harmony. In true Sofitel style, Philadelphia’s rendition blends Gallic charm with local soul, offering guests an elevated way to revel in the season’s start.

This year’s Fête de la Musique promises an unforgettable ambiance set to French vinyl spun by DJ Romain, plus handcrafted cocktails and elevated French street fare from Executive Chef Sylva Senat. Whether you’re a Francophile, an audiophile, or just love a perfectly mixed drink and good company, this fête is your summer starter pack.

Fête de la Musique: A Toast to French-Inspired Bites

Chef Sylva Senat, known for his refined yet approachable French-American style, taps into the essence of street-side brasseries with a trio of offerings that are as indulgent as they are satisfying.

The Mini Croque Monsieur is a petite powerhouse of Parisian nostalgia, featuring savory ham, melty cheese, and creamy béchamel on crisped bread. For seafood lovers, the Shrimp Cocktail brings a dozen perfectly poached jumbo shrimp accompanied by a zesty, house-made cocktail sauce—a nod to timeless luxury. Perhaps the most exciting dish on the menu is the Pork Belly Bao Bun, where East meets West through soy-braised pork belly and Napa cabbage slaw tucked into a fluffy bao—demonstrating Chef Senat’s flair for international fusion with French roots. Each dish is available pay-as-you-go, inviting guests to sample widely while soaking in the atmosphere.

Fête de la Musique: Cocktails Inspired by Philly Icons

In true Sofitel fashion, the cocktails at this year’s Fête de la Musique are lyrical homages. Two signature craft cocktails pay tribute to legendary Philadelphians in a way that’s both playful and poetic.

The Voulez Vous, a sultry tribute to Patti LaBelle, shimmers with mezcal, Lillet Blanc, Cointreau, absinthe, and a kiss of gold—a drink as bold and iconic as its muse. Meanwhile, LoveQuest, inspired by the creative genius of Questlove, layers Empress Gin, rooibos tea, vanilla, and passion fruit beneath a sparkling finish of Pommery Champagne.

Fête de la Musique: Vinyl Vibes and Free Entry

While the food and drink may dazzle, it’s the soundscape that brings Fête de la Musique to life. French-born DJ Romain will command the turntables with a curated blend of rare grooves and beloved French classics—all spun on vinyl for that warm, analog charm. His soundtrack will echo through Liberté Lounge, transforming it into a Parisian sound garden nestled in the heart of Center City.

And the best part? Admission to this cultural exchange, musical soirée, and culinary journey all wrapped in one elegant package, titled Fête de la Musique, is free. Though reservations are strongly encouraged and can be made via OpenTable.
