RUNNING – Gretchen Elise

Gretchen Elise has dropped her new single, entitled “Running,” and a live-action/animation music video to accompany. The song explores themes of love, longing, resilience, and redemption, featuring catchy multi-part vocals and a ’90s hip-hop groove. Gretchen Elise produced the track herself with the assistance of co-producer Merc Beatz. The track includes the talents of musicians Rhodney Miller on bass, Jan Jeffries on percussion, and Irv Jean-Baptiste on guitar. The music video, created with Camden’s Supreme Cinema and animator Sean Tate, showcases an animated Gretchen and actor Carlo Campbell. “I wanted my own Sasha Fierce,” says Gretchen. “Now I have her, and she’s running at full speed.”

Poison In My Well – Maggie Rose featuring Grace Potter

“Poison In My Well”, a soulful, blues-infused anthem that blends pop influences and calls out those who fail to celebrate others’ successes, was co-written by Maggie Rose, Melissa Fuller, and Davis Naish, with production by Naish and Ben Tanner. The song is considered a response to the killjoy psyche, focusing on those who support her journey. She shared the song with Grace Potter, who recorded her vocals that week, making Maggie thrilled to have one of rock n’ roll’s best voices featured on the track.

Corset – Ivory Daze

Ivory Daze, a trio from Lincoln, NE, has released “Corset,” the latest single from their upcoming EP, Chlorine. The band, consisting of Isahen Harms (guitar, vocals), Maeve Nelson (drums), and Van Foster (bass), has a sound that combines ’80s guitar influences with the fuzziness of bands like The Melvins and Smashing Pumpkins. Harms aims to write pop songs with distortion, while Nelson and Foster provide a vibrant rhythm section. Chlorine showcases their blend of chaos and melody, reflecting their live experiences.

KEHLANI REMIX – Jordan Adetunji featuring Kehlani

Gretchen Elise

Belfast, UK artist Jordan Adetunji has dropped his KEHLANI REMIX, featuring Kehlani. Melodic, tranquil, and electrically harmonic, the track pays homage to ladies that exist in time and space with confidence as swag, on par with Jordan Adetunji’s muse and the single’s namesake.

Mistaker – Bird Streets

Gretchen Elise

Bird Streets, the project of John Brodeur, has released a new single that delves into themes of identity and inner conflict. The title references the “trembling giant,” inspired by Pando, a vast organism in Utah, symbolizing the shame that permeates our lives. The song nods to Nine Inch Nails’ “Mr. Self Destruct,” portraying a “literal anti-hero” with lines like, “I’m a superhero in reverse,” highlighting vulnerability beneath a strong facade. Brodeur describes it as possibly the “poppest song about self-loathing” he’s written, featuring an innovative structure that avoids typical repetition, along with elements reminiscent of a James Bond theme and Sloan’s influence.
