Philadelphia Artists’ Collective presents the world premiere adaptation of Charlotte Brontë’s beloved masterpiece, Jane Eyre.

Prepare for an unforgettable theatrical experience that captivates and moves you. Adapted by the talented Philadelphia Artists’ Collective (PAC), this production promises to be an absolute gem. From May 11 to May 28, 2023, head to the enchanting Christ Church Neighborhood House in Old City, Philadelphia, to witness this thrilling interpretation of Jane Eyre. Brought to you by the same team behind the highly acclaimed The Complete Works of Jane Austen, Abridged, this adaptation boasts a large ensemble and a chorus of “Janes” to bring the rich inner world of the heroine to life.

Jane Eyre is a timeless tale of romance, independence, and the unyielding spirit of a brave young woman. PAC has infused this classic story with a modern sensibility and fresh perspective, making it relevant and relatable for audiences today. It’s a testament to the enduring power of literature to touch our hearts and minds across generations.

According to Damon Bonetti, Co-Founder and Producing Artistic Director of PAC, “Jane Eyre has been a project four years in the making. We were originally asked by a university to produce a Jane Eyre. We read a number of adaptations but were dissatisfied with them all. The Creative Team just had a hit with The Complete Works of Jane Austen, Abridged. Charlotte being with that cohort and also being tapped to play Jane, it made sense to create our own. The pandemic made us rethink how we wanted to present this play in terms of location and making it an all-professional cast. So we decided to make it part of our first full season back.”

PAC enlisted Kathryn MacMillan, a highly skilled and passionate individual who holds the positions of New Artistic Director at Inis Nua Theatre and Producing Artistic Director at Tiny Dynamite, to bring this grand tale to life. With her passion for the story and previous collaboration with Charlotte Northeast, MacMillan was the ideal candidate to direct this production. Working together, they combine their expertise and creative energy to deliver an unforgettable experience for the audience.

Alongside Charlotte Northeast in the leading role of Jane Eyre, Kathryn MacMillan directs a stellar cast of talented actors from the region. J. Paul Nicholas brings the enigmatic character of Rochester to life, while Erin DeBlois Read, Kimie Muroya, Lex Thammavong, Cassandra Alexander, David Pica, LaNeshe Miller-White, Anna Faye Lieberman, Madeline Garcia, and Anthony Diaz deliver captivating performances in their respective roles.

PAC has selected the lovely Christ Church Neighborhood House as the ideal location for this production. Its brick walls, wooden floors, and distinctive atmosphere create a historical and engaging environment that enhances the authenticity of the performance.

PAC has made this production possible thanks to the generous support of The Roy Cockrum Foundation and The Philadelphia Cultural Fund. In addition, Angela Muller and Lisa Yanak serve as Honorary Producers for Jane Eyre, further demonstrating the community’s commitment to the arts.
