National Dog Month Celebrations Bring Joy to Philly’s Pups and People
August is officially National Dog Month, and Philly is rolling out the red carpet—or rather, the red leash—for its four-legged residents and their human companions. From pup-friendly patios to adoption drives and custom menus, businesses across the city and suburbs are going all in to honor our furry friends in style.
One of the most vibrant highlights is Manayunk’s beloved Dog Day of Summer, returning Saturday, August 16, 2025. This free community event transforms Main Street into a canine carnival with splash zones, pet portraits, sidewalk sales, and rescue adoptions, all designed to make tails wag and hearts melt.

New for this year is the Yards Pints and Paws Passport, encouraging attendees to sip and stroll with their pups across nearly a dozen participating bars and restaurants, collecting stamps to earn dog-themed prizes. At Richard’s Apex Lot, Bennett from The NEW 96.5 FM and the PSPCA host Paws for a Cause, featuring adoptable pets and a live broadcast in partnership with BluePearl Pet Hospital. There’s also a Yappy Hour at The Brass Tap, cool-down stations from City of Paws and Animedic Veterinary Hospital, and giveaways that include everything from dog beer samples to tushy decals from Pet Friendly Dog Bakery.
Local vendors like Bow-Nut Bites, Dazzeled Dogs, and My Lil Buddy Dog Ice Cream Mix will be on-site, while custom caricatures from Dan’s Toonz and pet-themed art by local creatives add an extra layer of fun. Whether you’re looking to adopt, indulge your pup, or simply enjoy a day out among fellow dog lovers, National Dog Month in Manayunk is a heartfelt, high-energy celebration of Philadelphia’s vibrant pet-loving community.

National Dog Month Dining, Hotels, and Luxury Stays Go Pup-Centric
Beyond Manayunk, National Dog Month is being embraced by some of the region’s top hotels and restaurants, offering posh perks and menus that elevate pet hospitality to new heights. In Center City, Square 1682 debuts its Pupadelphia Menu with items like “Chewsteak” (shaved ribeye and cheese), “Bulking Season” (grilled chicken and Greek yogurt), and the “Pawfait Power Bowl” (scrambled eggs, yogurt, and fruit). In partnership with Tito’s Handmade Vodka, $1 from every Flower of the Moon cocktail sold goes to Street Tails Animal Rescue, with Tito’s matching donations and providing doggie swag bags to guests.

In the burbs, Ghost Light Inn in New Hope celebrates National Dog Month with its Dog Lover’s Delight Package, which includes dog collars, name tags, a pet portrait gift certificate, and dinner reservations at the on-site, dog-friendly Stella of New Hope, where the gourmet Pup Menu donates proceeds to Animal Alliance.
Located just 20 minutes from Atlantic City and 50 minutes from Philadelphia, Seaview Hotel & Golf Club in Galloway, South Jersey, is a great spot for a fun-filled family vacation with your four-legged family member. While a non-refundable pet fee of $50 per pet per stay is required, the experience is well worth it. Situated near the Pine Barrens and Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge, you’ll have access to miles of scenic trails to explore. Plus, with Longport Dog Beach only a 30-minute drive away, your dog can enjoy off-leash fun in the sand and surf.

Back in the city, Urban Farmer at The Logan Hotel offers an elevated Puppy Menu served in custom YETI bowls. Expect dishes like the “Puppy Patty,” grilled chicken breast, and frozen strawberry banana yogurt. The Hyatt Centric Center City Philadelphia has launched its Paws + Play Package, complete with in-room dog beds, treats from Salty Paws, and waived pet fees.
The Sofitel proudly accommodates pets, welcoming both cats and dogs with a refundable deposit of $300. Upon arrival, your pets will be treated to complimentary treats and water bowls delivered right to your room.

Hilton Philadelphia Penn’s Landing, a 5-minute walk from Penn’s Landing Dog Park, is the only waterfront hotel in Philadelphia that welcomes pets. Guests are permitted to bring two cats or dogs, with a combined weight limit of 75 pounds or less, for a non-refundable fee of $75 per pet, per stay.
At the Inn at Grace Winery in Glenn Mills, PA, you can take advantage of their Pet Package for just $45. This package includes dog treats, a stylish keepsake bandana, a toy, a dog bowl, and a comfortable dog bed. With expansive grounds for dogs to explore and several dog-friendly cottages available, you’ll find the perfect spot for your furry friend, with a pet limit of 20 pounds in the Herb cottage.
Shake Shack is launching two exciting new offerings for our four-legged friends. First up is the Pooch-ini, a delectable treat that combines ShackBurger dog biscuits with creamy vanilla custard (note: this contains dairy and sugar and is not recommended for small dogs), available starting at $4.49. Additionally, we’re introducing the Bag O’ Bones, which features five ShackBurger-flavored biscuits crafted by Bocce’s Bakery, starting at $8.49.

Whether you’re staying in the city or heading to the coast, National Dog Month in Philly and beyond proves there’s no shortage of ways to celebrate our best friends.
Happy National Dog Month!
