The Philadelphia Arena Polo Championship: A New Legacy in the Making

On September 27, 2025, polo takes the spotlight in a reintroduction of the sport with the inaugural Philadelphia Arena Polo Championship. Hosted by the nonprofit Work to Ride, this milestone event celebrates the grand opening of the McCausland Arena, Philadelphia’s first dedicated indoor polo facility. With all proceeds supporting Work to Ride’s nationally acclaimed youth equestrian program, the event stands as both a cultural spectacle and a philanthropic powerhouse.

The day will feature two electrifying arena polo matches—one in the morning, another in the afternoon—starring current and alumni players from the Work to Ride program. These athletes, many of whom rose from under-resourced Philadelphia communities, represent the triumph of opportunity, mentorship, and grit. Leading the charge is Kareem Rosser, Work to Ride alumnus, polo champion, and financial analyst, whose life story inspired the critically acclaimed memoir “Crossing The Line”. Rosser will co-lead this historic event, offering a powerful reflection on what polo—and this program—can mean to a city.

The gates open at 11:00 AM for the morning match (11:30 AM start), with a brief intermission before reopening at 3:00 PM for the afternoon session (3:30 PM start). General admission is just $20, making The Philadelphia Arena Polo Championship one of the most accessible and impactful sporting events of the season.

The Philadelphia Arena Polo Championship: Food, Fashion, and Community Spirit

Beyond the thundering hooves and thrilling gameplay, the Philadelphia Arena Polo Championship offers an immersive day of lifestyle and leisure. Attendees will enjoy a curated selection of Philadelphia’s finest food trucks, including Two Street Sammys, Boomer B Kitchen, and the ever-popular Monz Crabby Dips. Whether you’re a diehard polo fan or just coming for the flavor, there’s something for every palate.

The event also includes an open vendor village, featuring interactive experiences and local entrepreneurs. Highlights include artisan body care from Beyond Bubbles and stylish riding apparel from Botori. Together, these vendors help elevate the experience from just a day at the match to a full-on celebration of Philadelphia’s creativity, culture, and community.

Work to Ride’s mission—empowering youth through horsemanship, academic support, and mentorship—remains the heart of it all. The Philadelphia Arena Polo Championship is more than a polo match; it’s a platform for change. It showcases the talent born from West Fairmount Park’s Chamounix Equestrian Center and invites the public to experience what’s possible when vision meets action.

As Philly counts down to the 250th anniversary of the United States in 2026, this event lays the groundwork for an even grander return of the Philadelphia Polo Classic to Fairmount Park. But first, all eyes are on the arena—and the extraordinary young riders making history from the saddle.
