A Tribute in Sound: Pierre Robert’s Lasting Legacy
Philadelphia will come together on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, for Pierre Robert: A Show of Life, an unforgettable night of live music, heartfelt memories, and civic gratitude. Hosted by WMMR at The Fillmore Philadelphia, this special concert celebrates the life of the legendary midday host whose warm voice and boundless love for rock ‘n’ roll echoed across the city for more than four decades.
The man known for his iconic greeting—“Greetings, citizens!”—was more than just a radio DJ. Pierre Robert was the heartbeat of Philadelphia’s rock scene, a bridge between generations of listeners, and a champion of artists from garage bands to festival headliners. Since joining WMMR in 1981, his presence on the airwaves was a daily ritual. Whether spinning Pierre’s Vinyl Cut, organizing a Coffee Break Music Marathon, or rallying the community for causes like AIDS Walk Philly or MANNA’s Pie in the Sky fundraiser, Robert made a deep and personal impact on the city he loved.
The Pierre Robert: A Show of Life concert will channel that impact into a celebration worthy of the man himself—with music, community, and passion at the center.
The Lineup: Rock Royalty and Local Legends Unite for Pierre Robert
The lineup for Pierre Robert: A Show of Life reads like a who’s who of rock icons and beloved Philly talents—an ensemble of artists who knew Pierre personally and shared the stage, airwaves, and many memories with him.

Set to perform are Brent Smith and Zach Myers of Shinedown, delivering acoustic intensity with a nod to the modern rock revival Pierre helped champion. Lzzy Hale and Joe Hottinger of Halestorm, representing Pennsylvania’s own Grammy-winning powerhouse, will take the stage to honor a man who celebrated their rise from the local circuit. Ed Roland of Collective Soul brings a soulful southern grit, while The Hooters, one of Philly’s most cherished exports, offer a homegrown homage with their signature sound.
Adding depth and legacy to the evening is David Uosikkinen’s In the Pocket, a revolving lineup of Philadelphia’s greatest players, featuring members of The A’s, Beru Revue, and the electrifying Tommy Conwell. This blend of classic and contemporary, local and legendary, reflects the spirit of Pierre Robert—always rooted in the city, yet always exploring what’s next.
Tickets for this one-night-only event go on sale Friday, November 21, at 10 a.m. via TheFillmorePhilly.com.

A Cause Close to Pierre Robert’s Heart
In classic Pierre Robert fashion, the night isn’t just about music—it’s also about giving back. A portion of the proceeds will benefit MANNA (Metropolitan Area Neighborhood Nutrition Alliance), a nonprofit that provides medically tailored meals and nutrition counseling for individuals battling serious illnesses. Pierre was a longtime supporter of MANNA’s mission, and this concert ensures his advocacy continues even after his passing.
Pierre Robert passed away on October 29, 2025, at age 70, leaving behind not only a legendary radio career but a cultural footprint etched in vinyl, broadcast signals, and the hearts of generations of Philadelphians. He was inducted into the Philadelphia Music Alliance Walk of Fame in 2019, a formal acknowledgment of a life that made music a lifeline for so many.

As WMMR’s Program Director Chuck Damico noted, “Pierre loved live music and enjoyed being among the good citizens of Philadelphia… We will sing, dance, and celebrate in the way Pierre would have wanted us to.”
Expect a night of rock anthems, acoustic beauty, heartfelt stories, and plenty of Pierre’s signature spirit. For one evening in December, The Fillmore becomes a sacred space to honor the man who gave Philly its soundtrack for 44 years.
