The annual “Deck the Ave” event is back with pop-up carolers, photos with Santa, the annual Christmas tree lighting, and more.

The East Passyunk Avenue Business Improvement District (EPABID) is all set to usher in the holiday season with its annual Deck The Ave festivities. This year’s event will feature a range of exciting happenings, including the annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, the Second Annual Hot Chocolate Crawl, Hanukkah Menorah Lighting, and much more. Visitors can also enjoy shopping, live entertainment, and photos with Santa.

The Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held on Wednesday, November 29, at The Singing Fountain, where Santa Claus will lead the tree lighting ceremony. Attendees will also get to enjoy the festive sounds of student singers from Fanny Jackson Coppin School, Quaker City String Band, and a holiday singalong led by Hire Musicians LLC. The ceremony will be followed by a vibrant 14 ft. tree lit with 20,000 LED lights, creating a joyous atmosphere for all to relish.

Visitors can also take photos with Santa at no cost on specific dates. Plus, they can participate in the East Passyunk Punch Card initiative, where shoppers will receive a punch for every $10 spent at participating businesses. Once ten punches have been collected, visitors can submit the completed card to any East Passyunk Avenue business and be automatically entered into a prize raffle for a gift certificate.

Visit the Avenue for an immersive holiday experience on our unique commercial strip of independent businesses. Other events to look out for include the Second Annual Hot Chocolate Crawl, where visitors can indulge in various hot cocoa and boozy-alternative chocolate creations available at numerous local restaurants, cafes, and bars. The South Philadelphia Shtiebel will also lead the community in celebrating the festival of lights with the annual Hanukkah Menorah Lighting at the Singing Fountain, and visitors can drop off letters to Santa at East Passyunk Avenue’s North Pole Mailbox.
