Jasmine Alleger: A Creative Force in Philadelphia

Since receiving her Master’s of Fine Art from Moore College of Art & Design in 2013, California native Jasmine Alleger has made Philadelphia her canvas and community. Her work, featured in exhibitions across the United States, reflects her deep appreciation for the mundane, the curious, and the vibrant urban landscape of her adopted city.

InLiquid Gallery is crucial in bringing Alleger’s work to the Hyatt Centric. Founded in 1999 by Rachel Zimmerman, InLiquid’s mission is to enhance public access to the visual arts in the Philadelphia region, fostering connections between artists, collectors, and the community. Celebrating its 25th anniversary, InLiquid continues to be a pivotal force in the local arts scene, curating exhibitions and creating opportunities for artists like Alleger.

Celebrating Everyday and Iconic Scenes

Alleger’s exhibit is split into two persuasive collections: “A Month of Breakfast” and “Rock N’ Roll Philadelphia”. The former vividly portrays Alleger’s breakfasts throughout August 2012, transforming routine meals into a canvas of colors and emotions. Conversely, “Rock N’ Roll Philadelphia” pays homage to the city’s beloved, albeit lockdown-shuttered, independent music venues such as Boot & Saddle, Johnny Brenda’s, and Bob & Barbara’s. Alleger visually documents these iconic spaces and captures the spirit of the music scene that thrives within them.

“Meet The Maker”: An Opening to Remember

Scheduled for Thursday, March 7, from 6 pm to 8 pm, the “Meet The Maker” reception is an invitation to immerse oneself in Alleger’s world. Attendees will have the chance to engage with the artist, explore her two distinct bodies of work, and enjoy the culinary delights of Patchwork Restaurant, all within the stylish confines of Hyatt Centric Center City Philadelphia. Situated on the second floor of the Hyatt Centric at 1620 Chancellor Street, this exhibit highlights Alleger’s significant contributions to the art world. It underscores the importance of supporting local artists and celebrating women’s achievements in the arts.

The exhibit is open to the public and free to attend and will run through the end of April.
