Rex at the Royal is offering a thrilling brunch menu filled with Southern-influenced favorites like Shrimp and Grits, Country Ham and Gravy, Sweet Potato and Tofu Hash. Chef Aaron Paik is also embracing an intriguing tradition by introducing Hoppin’ John, a delicious dish that combines black eyed peas with Carolina gold rice, pickled carrots, onions, celery as well as peppers. As a New Year’s Day custom in the south, Hoppin’ John is thought to bring luck and prosperity for the rest of the year. For those looking for something special, Chef’s Smashburger will be available, as well. This tantalizing meal includes two smashed beef patties with Cooper sharp cheese, bib lettuce, mayonnaise, and caramelized onions all served on a brioche bun.

From 11 am to 2 pm, Patchwork will feature exciting Bloody Marys and Mocktails, as well as top-notch morning-inspired dishes crafted by Executive Chef Jonathan Dearden. The Red Owl Tavern‘s New Year’s Day Brunch menu features favorites such as the Breakfast Jawn, or French Toast Bread Pudding. Both alcoholic and nonalcoholic festive drinks are on deck with standouts such as the Mimosa Brunch which includes your choice of orange or cranberry juice along with a bottle of sparkling white wine.

 Royal Boucherie is offering a brunch menu that includes Eggs Benedict, Escargot, Ratatouille Tian, Steak Tartare, and Crème Brûlée French Toast with maple syrup. While there, indulge yourself at Royal’s Old Fashioned Bar. 

New Year's Day Brunch

Square 1682, at the Kimpton Hotel Palomar, is serving Brunch on New Year’s Day from 8 am to 2 pm. On the menu? Duck Wings and Waffles, Wagyu Burger, Cobbler French Toast, and Rittenhouse Omelet.

The Dutch is serving up Crispy Lebanon Bologna Omelet, Savory Dutch Baby and Ring Bologna Eggs Benedict. As a special for New Year’s Day only, The Dutch is offering the traditional holiday dish of Pork and Sauerkraut, crafted with braised pork, accompanied by sauerkraut, and served with crispy house potatoes. 

The Twisted Tail is presenting a full brunch service from 10 am to 4 pm The menu lists appetizers, breakfast items, sandwiches, and large plates. Highlights include Brioche French Toast, Lioni Burrata, plus exclusive libations like The “Boog”, a cocktail of Buffalo Trace Bourbon, New Jersey blueberries, New Jersey honey, lemon, and rosemary.

Urban Farmer in Logan Square is celebrating both the New Year and National Bloody Mary Day. Executive Chef Sonny Ingui is preparing a special Pho-inspired Bloody Mary made with Suntory Whiskey, house-made pho-spiked Bloody Mary, Thai basil, bean sprouts, lime juice, and ornamented with a spring roll. Food fare includes Short Rib Hash, Farm Vegetable Frittata and a Steak Tasting featuring a 6 ounce portion of Joyce Farms grass-fed steak, Creekstone natural prime steak, and 1855 beef 21 day dry aged steak. You can add a 6 ounce portion of Farms wagyu for an additional fee.

Pho-inspired Bloody Mary

Last on our list of New Year’s Day Brunch hot spots is Xfinity Live! which is hosting an Eagles versus Saints football game watch party. Come early to enjoy all of the food and drinks from vendors such as Geno’s Steaks, Chickie’s & Pete’s, and Lorenzo and Sons Pizza.
