The Buttery Opens New Ardmore Location with Fresh Flavor and Community Spirit
This fall, one of the region’s most beloved cafés and bakeries continues its growth story. The Buttery officially opens its new Ardmore location inside Suburban Square’s Farmer’s Market on Saturday, October 4, with a soft opening running October 1–3. Open seven days a week, the new café brings handcrafted coffee, artisanal breads, pastries, and sandwiches to one of the Main Line’s busiest culinary hubs.
Founded in 2015 by the husband-and-wife team of John and Silenia Rhoads, The Buttery has earned its reputation as a neighborhood anchor—a place where quality and connection take precedence. With locations in Malvern, Malvern Station, and now Ardmore, the brand has become synonymous with scratch-made pastries, rich coffee, and a warm, welcoming environment. “Community has always been at the heart of The Buttery,” said John Rhoads. “Ardmore’s bustling farmers’ market felt like a natural next step for us.”

Menu Highlights and Grand Opening Weekend
The Ardmore menu blends established favorites with new additions crafted specifically for the location. Guests can expect morning staples like croissants, tender scones, and rich house-roasted coffee alongside grab-and-go sandwiches such as the fan-favorite Ham & Brie Baguette. New offerings include a Chicken Katsu sandwich and a hearty Pastrami Reuben, while Ardmore introduces bagels to The Buttery family for the first time—complete with house-made spreads.
To mark the occasion, the first 100 customers to visit during the grand opening weekend will receive The Buttery’s signature sable cookies with purchase. It’s a gesture that speaks to the brand’s ethos: thoughtful hospitality, community connection, and a bit of indulgence. The hours for the Ardmore café mirror the market’s schedule, running Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Buttery: Craftsmanship Rooted in Tradition
The Buttery’s Norristown Bakehouse is a state-of-the-art facility where every loaf of sourdough, each pastry, and every batch of spreads is made and where the team refines recipes, experiments with seasonal flavors, and locks in consistency across all locations. With the Ardmore expansion coinciding with The Buttery’s 10th anniversary, the milestone underscores the brand’s commitment to both innovation and tradition.
Looking ahead, the Malvern flagship will undergo a full renovation to recapture its role as a true gathering space, complete with expanded seating and a renewed design focus. The Buttery’s expansion across the region is more than just growth—it’s a mission to create spaces where neighbors can slow down, connect, and share something crafted with care.
