The Hoagie Martini: A Marriage of Hoagies and Spirits
Only in Philly could a martini come stacked with a slice of hoagie—and only Art in the Age could make it this good. Meet the Hoagie Martini, a one-day-only culinary collaboration between the city’s most inventive spirits brand and Fishtown’s iconic sandwich shop, Liberty Kitchen. On Friday, October 25, from 12–5 PM, this tongue-in-cheek, mouthwatering creation will take center stage at Liberty Kitchen (1400 N. Front St.), where guests can enjoy the boldest sip-and-snack combo the city’s ever seen.
Fans of Art in the Age may remember when the Hoagie Martini first made waves online this summer—what began as a cheeky Instagram post quickly became a viral phenomenon. The overwhelming demand turned a meme into a menu item, sparking a collaboration that celebrates Philadelphia’s two greatest indulgences: hoagies and cocktails.
Served for $13, the Hoagie Martini is available inside Liberty Kitchen’s laid-back dining room or outside in its leafy garden. Customers 21 and up can toast the occasion with this savory, fat-washed libation, while sandwich lovers of all ages are invited to dig into Liberty Kitchen’s signature hoagies nearby.
The Hoagie Martini: Crafted Like a True Philadelphia Original
So what exactly is the Hoagie Martini? In true Art in the Age fashion, it’s both high-concept and hilariously Philly. The base is genoa salami fat-washed Art in the Age Vodka, a creative infusion that captures the soul of a classic Italian hoagie. It’s balanced with Cinzano Vermouth, finished with delicate drops of olive oil, and garnished with a skewered slice of Liberty Kitchen’s beloved Italian Salumeria Hoagie—a masterpiece layered with cured meats, mild provolone, lettuce, tomato, onion, creamy balsamic dressing, and the shop’s fiery pepper relish.

The result? A briny, savory martini that somehow tastes both elegant and unpretentiously local—an edible homage to the city’s culinary heritage. “We conquered the Weenie Martini, so as a Philadelphia company, the only logical next step was a Hoagie Martini,” said Art in the Age founder Steven Grasse, known for blending creativity and humor with meticulous craftsmanship. “Our new vodka is a great canvas for fat-washing and strange, amazing flavors—and that’s what Art in the Age is all about.”
Liberty Kitchen’s Executive Chef Beau Neidhardt echoed that enthusiasm. “We don’t serve alcohol, but we’re BYO—and this just works,” he said. “It’s not every day you can crush a hoagie in our garden and wash it down with a martini. I think people are going to have a good time—because honestly, who can turn down a hoagie and a martini?”
The Hoagie Martini: Where to Experience It and What’s Next
The October 25 debut of the Hoagie Martini also coincides with the official launch of Art in the Age Vodka, a smooth and clean spirit that joins the brand’s growing family of bottles, including Art in the Age Gin, Dunce Straight Bourbon, Graverobber Unholy Rye Maple Whiskey, Old Baldy Spiced Apple Whiskey, and Siege of Wolves Spiced Rum. Each of these inventive expressions reflects Art in the Age’s continued mission to push boundaries while paying homage to tradition.
After closing its original Old City tasting room, Art in the Age has reinvented itself through creative collaborations and cocktail pop-ups with some of Philadelphia’s most exciting partners—from Franklin Fountain and International Bar to Laurel Hill Cemetery and Punk Rock Flea Market. The Hoagie Martini is the latest—and possibly most Philly—expression of that adventurous spirit.
