Barnes Art Ball 2026: A Dazzling Tokyo Neon Night

The Barnes Art Ball 2026 turns the Parkway campus into a Tokyo neon party on October 16, with taiko, DJs, and Noguchi to Asawa.

The Barnes Art Ball 2026 is Friday, October 16, and the Barnes Foundation is turning its Parkway campus into a Tokyo neon nightscape for it. The benefit is built around Noguchi to Asawa: Designing Postwar America, the museum’s new exhibition on six Japanese American artists who changed how postwar America looked.

General admission starts at 7 p.m., and VIP guests get in at 6 for an early champagne reception. The dress code is “artful, creative, chic cocktail,” and the party is open to the public by ticket.

What the Barnes Art Ball 2026 Is Celebrating

Noguchi to Asawa opened September 20 and runs through January 10, 2027. Curator Cindy Kang built it around Isamu Noguchi, George Nakashima, Leo Amino, S. Neil Fujita, Kay Sekimachi and Ruth Asawa. Between them they made sculpture, furniture, fiber art and graphic design, including everyday objects most of us have lived with without knowing who shaped them.

The range is the point. Noguchi and Asawa were sculptors, Nakashima designed furniture, Sekimachi worked in fiber, and Fujita was a graphic designer whose work reached as far as record covers. The Barnes says their contributions run through the domestic objects and design language of modern America.

The show looks at that work alongside the Japanese American incarceration of World War II. The Barnes argues that Asian American history is foundational to modern art and design, and the exhibition is its case for it. Executive Director Thom Collins points to the artists’ “understudied impact on American design.” That’s a fair description of how little of this story gets told.

Who Is Playing at the Barnes Art Ball 2026

The music leans Philadelphia. KyoDaiko Drummers, a community taiko group, performs, and DJ Yolo Ono (Marissa Le) plays club-leaning house. DJ Musho (Truc Trinh) and Alexander B. Shaw with his nine-piece band alternate on the West Terrace, which gets the neon treatment. Downstairs, DJ Hong Kwon, a Philly record collector, spins Japanese City Pop in the lower-level lounge.

Susan Norcross and The Styled Bride designed the evening as a free-flowing, campus-wide party instead of a seated dinner. Constellation Culinary Group is running Asian fusion food stations, DAOU Vineyards is pouring wine, and there is a sake and whiskey bar. Films from Janus Films will play in the lower lobby, and guests get after-hours access to the exhibition and the collection.

How the Barnes Art Ball 2026 Compares With the Last Two

Norcross has produced here before. Last year’s Arts Ball honored Henri Rousseau with a jungle theme, floral installations and a stilt walker. In 2024, the Barnes Art Ball opened Mickalene Thomas: All About Love with a black-tie or artistic-formal dress code and tickets at $500.

The entertainment has stayed local each time. The 2025 night featured DJ Val Fleury, the Yasser Tejeda Trio on the West Terrace and stilt performer Madeleine Belle, with vinyl and cocktails from 48 Record Bar. The 2024 lineup included DJ Aura, The Illustrious Blacks and Camden’s Getting Better Everyday Step Team.

The pattern holds: a new exhibition, a theme pulled from it and a campus-wide party. What changed is the cost and the dress. Entry is up $150 from 2024, and black-tie has given way to cocktail attire at the Barnes Art Ball 2026.

Tickets and Pricing for the Barnes Art Ball 2026

Patron tickets are $650 and VIP tickets are $1,200, and the Barnes lists a $100 fair market value on each, so most of the price is a donation. Groups can buy a VIP block of six with early admission for $6,000. Tickets go through the Barnes’s Art Ball listing, and proceeds support its education work, exhibitions, and collection care.

Most of us have lived with objects shaped by these six artists without ever learning their names. The Ball is a party, but the show behind it is trying to change that.
