Charles “Charlie Mack” Alston, an entertainment insider and friends to the Tinsel Town’s many A-listers, is hosting Philly native, comedian Skeet Carter live in concert and taping comedy special – “I’m So Stupid.”
Carter, 32, is heralded as “one of the youngest and most sought-after comedians of his generation.” Carter curated and headlined a 2011 show that caught the attention of fellow Philly-born funnyman Kevin Hart – and Carter’s career has been ablaze ever since. In addition to appearances on comedy shows and tours with Paul Mooney, Cedric The Entertainer, DL Hughley, Mike Epps, Rickey Smiley, Tommy Davidson, Sommore, and many more, he opened for Hart at Lincoln Financial Field in front of 75,000 people.
But like they say, there’s no place like home, and Carter’s live taping of his “I’m So Stupid” comedy special at Temple Performing Arts Center, is just blocks from where he grew up near 22nd and Diamond streets. He hopes to sell the TV event to Netflix.
“I do it for the people,” explained Carter. “Some people who don’t have the mindset or have the ability to just follow their dreams. You know, some people are just put in situations and fight through it. So I do it for those people. That’s the reason why I’m taping in Philadelphia because it shows that there are other opportunities and ways to get out of what the system says that you should or could be… I’m just the person that speaks my mind, is funny, and hopefully this can take me, well… the sky’s the limit!”
Mack added, “That’s what’s important. Make sure you just get there get there to be a part of this historic journey.”
