Love City Manayunk Oktoberfest marks the first time the brewery’s Manayunk location has run the celebration since opening at 4323 Main Street, and it’s happening Saturday, September 26th, from noon to 6 p.m.

The newer Manayunk spot is turning into a full traditional beer hall for the day, pouring German-style Love Fest Oktoberfest beer alongside its regular lineup of brews.

Sophie’s BBQ is running the food side with brats, sausages, and pretzels with beer cheese, plus Love City’s own “Brat and a Shot” pour, where bartenders send a shot through a split bratwurst for a hands-free take on the Oktoberfest ritual. It’s the kind of gimmick that photographs well and gets repeated by word of mouth, exactly what a first-year event needs to build its own identity.

Entry, food, and drinks are pay-as-you-go and free to attend, with regular bar service picking back up until midnight after the event wraps at 6.

Love City Manayunk Oktoberfest Contests and Games

The day is built around two set pieces: a Stein Holding Contest at 2 p.m. and a Best Outfit Competition at 4 p.m., with DJ sets and games like Dutch Blitz and cornhole filling the rest of the afternoon. It’s a smaller, single-location format compared to some of the city’s bigger Oktoberfest productions, closer to a neighborhood block party than a ticketed festival.

That scale tracks with where Love City’s Manayunk location still sits in its own rollout, a newer outpost still finding its footing on Main Street rather than an established anchor with years of Oktoberfest history behind it.

Love City Manayunk Oktoberfest vs. Brauhaus Schmitz: Which One to Hit

Love City Manayunk isn’t the only Oktoberfest running that Saturday, and the overlap says something about how much appetite Philadelphia still has for the format even when two events land on the same date. Brauhaus Schmitz’s South Street Oktoberfest runs the same day, noon to 8 p.m., with a bigger footprint: a 1,000-person biergarten, close to a dozen German beers, live oom-pah music, and an 18-year track record drawing roughly 10,000 people.

The two aren’t really competing for the same crowd. South Street is the citywide block party version of Oktoberfest; Love City Manayunk Oktoberfest is the neighborhood version, built around a brewery that’s still establishing itself on Main Street rather than a bar that’s run this for nearly two decades.

There’s something to be said for a first-year Oktoberfest that isn’t trying to out-scale an 18-year institution across town, and just wants to prove it can throw a good one on its own block.
