The gallery will also host an Artist Reception and Happy Hour on April 5, offering a unique opportunity to engage with McFarlane and his latest work.

Tim McFarlane

Tim McFarlane is known for his abstract works, which challenge and engage the viewer’s perception of memory, place, and time. These works are characterized by an emphasis on color, layered systems, and intricate processes. McFarlane’s work has toured the United States in group shows and major art fairs from New York to San Francisco.

In “All Of This Is True,” McFarlane delves into the complexities of human identity and the contradictions that define our existence. Drawing inspiration from Walt Whitman’s “Song of Myself,” he embraces and celebrates these contradictions, reimagining his signature glyphs in a softer, more contemplative state. Through new triangular configurations, McFarlane explores space and structure innovatively, inviting viewers to contemplate the identities and roles we embody simultaneously.

McFarlane’s latest work broadcasts his belief in the power of art to navigate and express the multifaceted nature of human life. Through hard-edged, geometric arrangements filled with vibrant color, space, and light, he seeks avenues of liberation and freedom. This new body of work is a visual feast and a profound commentary on our ability to be many things at once—to contain multitudes.

Bridgette Mayer Gallery and Tim McFarlane welcome visitors to immerse themselves in this thought-provoking show, which promises to be a highlight of the spring art season in Philadelphia.
