Famous 4th Street Deli and Franklin Fountain collab for Famous 4th Street Sweets.
Two of Philly’s most beloved culinary institutions—Famous 4th Street Delicatessen and Franklin Fountain—have teamed up to create a summer collaboration that’s as sweet as it is storied. Famous 4th Street Sweets is an exclusive seasonal menu that brings together the iconic deli’s legendary baked goods and Franklin Fountain’s handcrafted ice cream in a nostalgic showcase of old-school Philly indulgence.
The new menu, available exclusively at the deli, begins with three categories of treats. First up is the Famous Chipwich—the deli’s rich, chewy chocolate chip cookie stuffed with either vanilla or chocolate Franklin Fountain ice cream. Then there’s the takeaway lineup: pints of Franklin Fountain’s most beloved flavors, including vanilla, chocolate, sea salt caramel, and a standout caramelized banana. Finally, there are the fizzy, flavorful Famous Floats made for dine-in only: the Classic (vanilla and Dr. Brown’s Root Beer), the Chocolate Cherry Bomb (chocolate and Dr. Brown’s Black Cherry), and the Banana Cream (caramelized banana paired with Dr. Brown’s Cream Soda). Each one is a throwback to soda fountain days—with a modern, hyper-local twist.

Both Famous 4th Street Delicatessen and Franklin Fountain are family-run operations steeped in Philadelphia history and community. This collaboration isn’t a gimmick or a flash in the pan—it’s a genuine expression of shared values and shared roots, merging the old-world charm of a Jewish deli with the Americana of a vintage ice cream parlor.
Owner Al Gamble summed it up best: “Collaborating with Franklin Fountain was such a no-brainer. As two family-owned businesses, we share a deep commitment to our craft, our community, and the traditions that make this city special.” And that commitment shows in every detail—from the choice of Dr. Brown’s sodas in the floats to the way the Famous Chipwich honors the simple joy of a cold treat on a hot day.

For now, the Famous 4th Street Sweets menu is intentionally limited, but both teams hint that it could expand—and rotate seasonally—based on customer response and creative whim. It’s a refreshing blend of tradition and innovation, and it’s available whether you’re grabbing a pint to go or taking a break from the heat with a float at one of Philly’s most iconic culinary addresses.
Famous 4th Street Delicatessen is open daily from 9 AM to 8 PM, with pickup and delivery available online. For anyone looking to experience a sweet slice of Philly culture, the Famous 4th Street Sweets lineup is an absolute must.
