Katie Kaplan Melds Art and Ecology at Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens

Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens will debut “Of Earthen Kin: Works by Katie Kaplan” on June 6, 2025. Celebrated local artist Katie Kaplan bridges ecological advocacy and artistic expression through a blend of textiles, sculpture, printmaking, and digital media.

Kaplan, who earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Sculpture from Pratt Institute, brings a deeply personal and socially conscious perspective to each piece. Drawing from her personal dedication to ecological mindfulness and sustainable practices, Katie Kaplan channels nature’s subtleties and complexities into art that compels viewers to engage more deeply with the world around them. Her use of organic textures and vibrant patterns creates an immersive sensory experience, blurring the lines between activism and artistry. By combining powerful visual narratives with social and environmental concerns, Kaplan invites audiences to reconsider their relationship with nature and the necessity of protecting it.
